How to choose the light source type of image measuring instrument?
The light sources of image measuring instruments are divided into three main types, each with different applicable scenarios.
Contour light (bottom light)
Lighting from under the workbench creates the silhouette of the workpiece. It is suitable for measuring the outline size and geometric shape of workpieces, such as the shape of stamping parts, the outline of mold parts, etc. Contour light is the first choice for measurements that require high edge definition.
Ring light (surface light)
Illuminating the surface of the workpiece in a circular manner from above is suitable for measuring surface features of the workpiece, such as engravings, scratches, holes, surface defects, etc. The ring light can adjust the angle and brightness to adapt to surfaces of different materials.
coaxial light
The semi-reflective semi-lens allows light to illuminate the workpiece surface vertically along the optical axis of the lens. It is suitable for measuring highly reflective workpieces (such as mirror surfaces and polished metal surfaces) and can effectively reduce reflection interference.
Selection suggestions
For most measurement scenarios, it is recommended to first use contour light to obtain the outline of the workpiece, and then add ring light or coaxial light as needed. When measuring transparent workpieces, it is recommended to use contour light combined with polarized light technology.
