How to calibrate a roundness meter to ensure measurement accuracy?
The roundness meter is a high-precision measuring equipment, and regular calibration is the basis for ensuring measurement accuracy.
1. Calibration of standard parts
Use standard roundness samples (usually provided by metrology institutes and marked with roundness standard values) for calibration. Install the standard part on the workbench, measure according to the standard measurement procedure, compare the measured value with the standard value, and correct it if there is any deviation.
2. Rotary axis accuracy calibration
The rotary axis is the core component of the roundness meter, and its rotation accuracy directly affects the measurement accuracy. It is recommended to use a standard ball or standard rod to calibrate the accuracy of the rotary axis and check whether the radial runout and axial movement are within the allowable range.
3. Sensor calibration
Use a standard measuring block or standard step block to calibrate the linearity of the sensor to ensure that the linear relationship between the sensor output signal and the displacement is correct.
4. Calibration cycle
It is recommended to conduct a comprehensive calibration every six months and a simple calibration (quick verification using standard parts) every month. If the equipment moves or is subject to vibration, it should be calibrated immediately.
5. Environmental requirements
During calibration, the ambient temperature should be controlled at 20±1℃ and the humidity should be controlled at 45%~65% to avoid interference from air flow and vibration.
