The important role of roundness meter in precision manufacturing
The roundness meter is a high-precision measuring instrument specially used to measure the roundness error of rotating workpieces. In precision manufacturing, workpiece roundness accuracy directly affects assembly quality, rotation performance and product life, so roundness detection is an important part of quality control.
Working principle
The roundness meter uses precision rotary axis technology. The workpiece to be measured is installed on the rotary table and rotates with the spindle. A high-precision displacement sensor (usually an inductive sensor) contacts and samples the workpiece surface to record the radial changes in the contour of the workpiece. Through computer analysis and processing, parameters such as roundness error, coaxiality, and concentricity are obtained.
Main measurement functions
- Roundness measurement: Evaluate the roundness error of the circular cross-section of the workpiece
- Coaxiality measurement: Evaluate the coaxiality between the center points of different cross-sections
- Concentricity measurement: Evaluate the concentricity between the inner and outer circles
- Runout measurement: Evaluate the radial runout when the workpiece rotates
- Verticality/Parallelism: Evaluate the perpendicularity and parallelism between the end face and the axis
- Spectrum analysis:Analyze the surface waviness characteristics of the workpiece
